Welcome to William's Web Folio.

  1. Caesar shift cipher, Scytale, Steganography, Pigpen Cypher, Polyalphabetic cipher
  2. Encryption: the process of converting information or data into a code, especially to prevent unauthorized access
  3. The purpose of digitial encryption is to encrypt and keep data secret.
  4. It works by being based on the fact that any given stretch of written language certain letter and combinations occur with varying frequences. The problem with this is that by doing so we loose transient information in data.
  5. Symmetric Encryption only has one key whereas asymmetric encryption has two keys.
  6. Bob and Alice could communicate seperate messages to each other using their public and private keys by having both of their public keys encrypt the messages and thev have the private keys decrypt the messages.
  7. Enigma has an electromechanical rotor mechanism that scrambles the 26 letters of the alphabet. The cracking of it allowed the Allies to understand intercepted German coded messages.
